Museums, Exhibits & Music

The Amistad  (at Long Wharf, New Haven) The Amistad is normally located at Long Wharf and may be boarded for free in the afternoon.

Ansonia Nature Center - Includes a small nature center with exhibits, a large playground, and lots of hiking trails.   The Center offers classes and programs year-round; see their online calendar of events.

Audubon Coastal Center - (Milford Pt) Includes a small center for kids with sea tank (crabs & fish), a computer with learning CD-ROM, and exhibits about the Housatonic River watershed.   Great views of the salt marsh on one side and the Sound on the other side, and you can walk along the shore picking up shells.

Falk/Great Harbor Gallery of Fine Art - Madison - offers original paintings, sculptures, limited edition prints, and vintage posters. Artists include Chagall, Miro, Picasso, and Rembrandt.

Mattatuck Museum - Waterbury - houses a performing arts center, an art studio classroom, and a research library.

New Haven Symphony Orchestra

Oakdale Theater - Wallingford - home to touring shows and performers.

Peabody Museum of Natural History - Great exhibits of dinosaurs, animals, rocks and more.  They also have a page listing upcoming classes and events, such as "Identification Day" - Bring just about anything to the museum and they will try to identify it.

Railroad Museum of New England - Waterbury - offers a ride along the scenic Naugatuck River and displays railroad equipment.

Schooner Sound Learning.  - (New Haven) Operates the Quinnipiac, a 91-foot research sailing vessel, and offers classes and also an alternative high school.  Long Wharf.

ShorelineArt Studio and Gallery - Branford - fine art, sculpture, and photography by local and regional artists.

Shubert Performing Arts Center - offers a schedule of Broadway musical theater, opera, dance, cabaret and family entertainment.
