SPOTTED TURTLE  Clemmys guttata

Length: 3.5-5 inches.

Color: Black with yellow stripes.

Habitat: Marshy meadows, bogs, swamps, ponds, ditches, or other small bodies of still water.

Range: Maine to Florida.  Extreme southern Ontario to Ohio to Wisconsin.

Where in CT?: Very common in bogs and pond in the traprock ridges.

Diet: Snails, worms, slugs, and spiders.

Notes: The spotted turtle is very sensitive to pollution so they've been rapidly reclining as the world gets more and more pollution.  Another reason that they have been declining is people take them home as pets.  So please, don't make them your permanent pet.
