STINKPOT   Sternotherus odoratus

Length: up to 6 inches

Color: Brown, black and yellow.

Habitat: Sluggish backwaters, marshes, ponds, and ditches with soft bottoms.

Range: New England and southern Ontario south to Florida and west to Wisconsin and central Texas.

Diet: Insects, crayfish, earthworms, molluscs, minnows, tadpoles and vegetation.

Notes: They smell real bad.  It is also known as the Common Musk Turtle.   Their heads look very wierd.
