Length: 8-10 inches.                                                                 

Color: Gray or  copperish with red belly.

Habitat: Bogs at high places.

Range: Southern Canada to Florida to Texas.

Where in Connecticut?: Higher elevation areas in northern Connecticut.

Diet: Insects, slugs, worms, myriapods, and sowbugs.

Other: It has a grey phase and a brown phase.
