Color: Brown.

Habitat: Coniferous forest, often near lakes and rivers

Range: Northern Europe and Asia: Scandinavia to Siberia; Alaska, Canada, Northern U.S.A., and New Zealand.

Diet: Plants. It is not a picky eater.

Notes: It is the largest Ungulate in the world.  In winter, it feeds on woody plants, but in summer, water plants provide the bulk of its food.  It wades into water to feed and swims well. It can swim up to 7 miles an hour and run up to 35 miles an hour.  Since moose are so big, adult moose only have three predators.  They're wolves, grizzly bears, and humans.  Moose are rare in Connecticut, but every year some moose come south to Connecticut.
